The journal focuses on all aspects of the Quaternary. This scope is intentionally broad, and covers a range of specialisms such as geomorphology, palaeoclimatology, palaeobotany, palynology, palaeontology, zooarchaeology, geoarchaeology, biological anthropology and Palaeolithic archaeology.
The Open Quaternary site has received around 60,000 page views since its launch in March 2015, with the most accessed publication currently having been viewed/downloaded over 11,000 times. All publications are widely indexed for enhanced dissemination and findability. Average submission to publication times are currently around 140 days.
Open Quaternary is enthusiastic to develop our social media platforms to maximise the impact of our published content as well as build a community around the journal. We aim to foster debate and share news, becoming a central online space for information sharing within the Quaternary sciences. We're therefore looking to recruit a Social Media Editor to join our team.
Applicants will be considered from all career stages, however, this may be particularly suited to an early career researcher.

We are now looking to increase our Editorial Board, with the aim of widening the depth and breadth of expertise to ensure that all areas of Quaternary science are adequately covered. We invite all interested individuals to submit their details for consideration.
The main role of a board member is to act as an advocate of the journal and help advance submissions and reputation, as well as provide occasional help in the processing or reviewing of submissions. We encourage Editorial Board members to proactively network and promote the journal, think creatively about new ways of attracting interest, and solicit content from colleagues where appropriate.
The current Editorial team can be viewed at https://www.openquaternary.com/about/editorialteam/
Whilst we are looking to expand the Editorial Board in all areas, we are especially keen to recruit individuals with research areas in the below disciplines:
